"Romantic and terrifying, lush but insular … [James Hall and Edward Lovelace] dig beauty out of tragedy without being too neat about it and have made a remarkable film. Five stars." – The Guardian

In 2005 Edwyn Collins – singer/songwriter with post-punk band Orange Juice and perhaps best known for his ‘90s solo hit A Girl Like You – was on the brink of death, his memory wiped and speech limited to a few words: "yes", "no", the name of his wife, and the phrase that's become the film's title.

The Possibilities Are Endless is a strikingly beautiful, almost freeform, film that mirrors for the audience the experience of Collins' road to recovery, re-learning to walk, read and sing (even recording two beloved albums) with help from his dedicated wife. Narrated by Collins and featuring archival footage of his young band days as well as intimate contemporary interviews as he prepares for his return to the stage, this is a boldly articulated work: more abstract than the similarly themed The Diving Bell and The Butterfly or First Cousin Once Removed (MIFF 13), and definitely not your average music bio-doc, it's an immersive, avant-garde cinematic experience.

"The purest cinematic love story you'll see all year." – Toronto Star
