BACKLASH

Australia, 1986 (MIFF 1986)

Director: Bill Bennett

An intriguing, often powerful drama set in rugged outback country. BACKLASH is an unusual attempt, for an Australian-made feature, to have its actors improvise dialogue, around a carefully plotted storyline. Two young police constables are assigned to transport a young Aboriginal woman, accused of murdering a bar owner, from Sydney back to the outback township where the crime occurred.
